Battle of Chancellorsville

A Union artillery battalion awaits the Battle of Chancellorsville in May 1863. Chancellorsville evolved as one of Confederate general Robert E. Lee and Lieutenant General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson’s greatest triumphs. The victory was decisive and presented Lee with an opportunity to invade the North, but the devastating loss of Jackson on May 10 required that Lee reorganize the Army of Northern Virginia.
