FEATURE STORY The ongoing war in Afghanistan has demonstrated that sometimes it is difficult to determine the lasting impact of specific military events. In Operation MOSHTARAK, begun in February 2010, combined Afghan National Army (ANA) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces attempted to root out Taliban insurgents from the Marja community, hoping that it would serve as an important symbolic victory.
