Battle of Badr



A Persian painting depicting a scene from the Battle of Badr in 624. Many saw Muhammad's victory here against much more numerous foes as a sign from God. The battle marked the beginning of Islam's spread across Arabia and the Near East, North Africa, southeastern Europe, and much of Asia.
