First Thanksgiving

In this painting of the first Thanksgiving feast, members of the Wampanoag tribe are treated as honored guests by the pilgrims of Plymouth Colony as they celebrate their survival in 1621. Though the image depicts a commonly held perception, the reality of the relationship between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag was more complex and less congenial.
