| The siege of New Ulm. The largest Anglo-American settlement near the Sioux encampment, New Ulm was attacked twice during the 1862 Minnesota Sioux Uprising. As punishment for their role in the hostilities, thirty-eight Sioux were executed at Mankato in December 1862. |
