Robert McNamara



President of Ford Motor Company when he was named U.S. secretary of defense in 1961, Robert McNamara held that post for seven years under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. McNamara was one of the principal architects of U.S. policy in Vietnam.
