| General Curtis LeMay is credited with creating and executing a large strategic aerial bombing campaign against Japan between August 1944 and Japan's surrender in August 1945. During that time, LeMay's campaign included large incendiary attacks on Japanese cities and culminated in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. |
