U.S. Marines after the Battle of Guam



The U.S. Marines salute the U.S. Coast Guard after the Battle of Guam in August 1944. Once the island was conquered, the U.S. Navy built five large airfields on the island and used it as a home base for B-29 bombers attacking the Western Pacific and mainland Japan.
